Thousands of bouquets of colorful lights lit the skies over the Caspian Sea coast in the evening of this memorable day. It was fireworkers who handled the grand finale of the grand concert in the new amphitheater overlooking the sea. Wizards of special effects did well, having riveted the public’s attention on the enchanting play of colorful splashes. A sense of celebration felt by participants of the events all day long reached its peak.

The presentation of the first line of facilities in Avaza resort took place exactly two years after the idea of transforming the Caspian Sea coast near the town of Turkmenbashi was put forward by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. During the ensuing two years, he never lost track of the progress of work and personally participated in all presentations and, of course, could not help but come to Avaza on the day of reception of first guests. The attendance of heads of foreign embassies accredited in Turkmenistan and heads of Turkmenistan’s diplomatic missions abroad, as well as large group of media representatives from half a dozen countries emphasized the importance of this event for the public life of Turkmenistan.

Two of the hotels, “Vatanchi” and “Hazyna”, standing on the shore of the sea, and “Charlak” hotel located within the city boundaries can in total accommodate six hundred guests at a time. The figure is not yet so impressive, but this is almost twice as much the capacity of the first two international-class hotels built on the coast a few years ago. And a new zone of leisure facilities nears their completion. Now the possibility of accommodating holiday-makers in Avaza will grow literally in a geometric series. The second phase of development of the sea coast provides for construction of half a dozen hotels and world-class spas. A symbolic gold key to the coast, presented to the President of Turkmenistan by the constructors, has already opened the doors to the world of coziness, comfort and pleasant stay created by skilful hands of professionals.

There are beautiful beaches with sun umbrellas and shower rooms, soft sea waves rolling on golden sand, swimming pools with water slides, boat stations, athletic fields, coolness of the cozy cafes under the huge tents. Leaving the hotel, you can spend a whole day on the beach and choose the place and method of spending your time.

One can also try another extreme form of recreation without exposure to the hot sun. There is a whole set of pleasures inside the hotel such as swimming pools and fitness centers and a wide range of dishes and drinks in bars and restaurants. By the way, the gastronomical part has always been considered an integral part of good rest, and, therefore, it is not by chance that owners of new hotels offer a variety of food to meet the most demanding tastes of gourmets.

It is of no less importance that prices for accommodation and all services are quite affordable. The cost of one-two week rest will not be unduly burdensome to the family budget.

Builders were in a hurry to commission new hotels by the midst of the current summer season so that many Turkmenistan citizens would be able to enjoy the sea resort now, without postponing the possibility of comfortable rest for long.

And if you look in the near future, your imagination can not accommodate all the original project offered by their designer. Take for example the plan to build a covered ski complex. No one had ever dared such a bold project so close to the south latitude of the city of Turkmenbashi. The Tatarstan designers proposed to construct a ski center with the territory of twenty hectares in Avaza. The in-door 1200-meter track for three slopes, under the 8 meter high transparent dome and up to half a meter deep snow cover, will have six levels of elevation. 120 people will be able to master the art of skiing at a time. And this is a real boon for professional athletes who want to train in the hot season.

The project of Turkish designers - a hotel complex on an artificial island, the outlines of which will exactly repeat the map of Turkmenistan, is also noted for its originality. The business alliance of British and Belgian designers offer to build a hotel-skyscraper in the shape of a peculiar lighthouse standing on the artificial island. A huge water park with a sliding dome was proposed by a German company.

The bulk of proposals was made and agreed in advance. Now, within the framework of the presentation of the first stage of development of the resort zone, representatives of investor companies received certificates from Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov authorizing their ownership of the relevant plots of land on the sea coast. Among them there are two Russian companies.

A big press conference was given for journalists who arrived in Avaza from around the world. Leaders of Turkmen ministries and agencies with direct involvement in implementing the national project answered the questions.

Addressing the Avaza project participants and potential partners of the grandiose national project, the president of Turkmenistan said that there are a lot of opportunities for realization of vast potential for international cooperation on the east coast of the Caspian Sea.

“I am confindent that Avaza, which is getting more beautiful day by day, will become the most cherished place for every person coming into Turkmenistan in the near future,” Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said.

One of the star guests of the festival of newly erected buildings in Avaza, people's artist of Russia, singer Philip Kirkorov admitted that the current visit to Turkmenistan was his first trip to the land of plenty. What he saw has surpassed all his expectations, and now he will be looking forward to another opportunity to once again plunge into an atmosphere of hospitality and friendliness which is so natural to this country.

The popular singer had more-than-enough inspiration to magnificently perform his part of the gala concert which was a highlight of the evening programme of celebrations. Along with popular Russian performers Turkish and Ukrainian singers and musicians and best representatives of the Turkmen pop genres performed on the stage of a summer theater. The show by the seaside continued deep into the night to the accompaniment of the light surf, presenting an unforgettable atmosphere of folk festival.
